So on tuesday i went to find Papa Hotdog in Rasta,TTDI (with the help of my trusty GPS :D )

20120419-201438.jpg

I ordered their best selling hotdogs. Crazee Cheese. I have to wait for a while but i didnt mind because there’s a band entertaining us at d rasta food court. 15 minutes later d Crazee Cheese came….

20120419-201324.jpg

Omg..it was heavenly :) the hotdog was juicy and have cheese filling. Then they fill together nachos in the bun and top it off with jalapeno cheese sauce. They certainly arent stingy about the ingredients ;)

20120419-201400.jpg

My only complain was i dont have enuff tissue to wipe out d mess from eating this gorgeous hotdog! :p

Verdict
- food : 9/10
- price : rm5.70 only for crazee cheese hotdog
- venue : 8/10 ( i like d band )
- parking : come early and you can get parking..and they will double park behind ur car. Just ask the parking attendant to help you find d owner of d car
- staff of papa hotdog: super fun and friendly

This is my fav hotdog ever!!!

Warung Janggus/Jangus, Pantai Cenang.

April 16, 2012 at 2:08 pm (Food Love Affair) (, , )

Recently I went to Langkawi for my nephew’s wedding. On the second night, we went for a walk at the Pantai Cenang’s strech to do some shopping and for dinner.

The Cenang’s scene was not bad. A lot like Bali and Phuket shopping place, but cheaper and less crowded (the fact that it was Sunday nite – ppl in Langkawi works on Sunday) and it was drizzling might contribute to the lesser crowd that night.

After an hour of browsing, we were getting kinda hungry. There was a lot of restaurant and stall to choose from at Pantai Cenang. Finally we settled at Warung Janggus/Jangus (there are 2 different signs with 2 different spelling. go figure :P )

Their apparently have all types of food but their speciality is Ikan Bakar (grilled fish). We ordered Ikan pari bakar (it was homaigod..huge!!), Chicken tomyam small, Sotong goreng tepung (fried squid) – betul ke aku translate ni? and kangkung belacan (i have no idea what this is in English). And I ordered mixed fruit juice of Laichi, Orange and Watermelon (my own favourite combination. you guys should try it :) )

My Yummy Fruitjuice

Then came the food.. :P

drool :P

All of this for two person.. it was such a huge portion. especially the fish. The grilled fish sauce was heavenly and the fish was so fresh and juicy.  Everything was delicious. But I think they could improve on the tomyam. (so hard to find good tomyam nowadays :( sigh )

At the end of the day. The meal costs us around RM70  (bear in mind the fish was huge and we ordered a mee goreng and mihun goreng to go). We did ‘tapau’ the fish and the squid and it was enough for another 2 person’s meal. So basically this RM70 food is actually for 4 person..

Conclusion, food was great, the staff was friendly. So full until I left the clothes I bought for zOey at the warung. So have to go back there and take it :D

Will definitely drop by again the next time I visit Langkawi.nyummm nyummm

Afternoon Tea For Two at Delicious Jalan Pinang

January 7, 2012 at 9:11 am (Food Love Affair, life, work) (, , )

Yesterday I had a girls evening out with my friends from office. There were 8 of us and the venue was Delicious :)

We bought the GroupOn Deal where we purchased ”Afternoon Tea for Two’ from delicious for only RM35 instead of RM59.90++

Good deal but the only catch was it was only valid at Delicious in Jalan Pinang nearby KLCC. and to make it worst, we went to the wrong Delicious (there was 2 Delicious nearby KLCC apparently +_+)  The right Delicious was in a posh building (i forgot the name of the building) but it has a very serene environment with the ponds and art exhibition in the lobby.

The restaurant was spacious. but the service was super duper slow even though there are only 3 or 4 tables at that time.

But all the waiting was worthwhile when four of these dessert trays came :P We basically could choose the drinks (tea, coffee or chocolate) and a dessert for each pair in addition of the standard sandwiches, truffles, strawberry, biscuits, caviar, etc… :P

i ordered hot chocolate with marshmellow

the top dessert was chocolate moist with vanilla ice cream :P

bread pudding :P

apple crumble with ice cream

Overall it was a good deal. Plenty of food for 2 person. The food was scrumptious and it was a great way to spend your evening with your loved ones. Will definitely buy this deal again if it is available

Yummyyy

November 12, 2011 at 11:34 am (Food Love Affair) (, , , , , )

Simple malay restaurant situated in Kelana Jaya behind giant, FenD ikan bakar is usually filled with people looking for lip smacking ikan bakar (grilled fish).

As per the name. their speciality is grilled fish. They have various type of fish (pari, talapia, kembung, keli). Normally the fish eaten with white rice and ulam (vegetables). Fish will served with Thai sauce and another two seperate sauce (air assam and sambal). They also serve chicken, squid and cockles for non-fish eaters. :)

pari grilled fish with ricehuge right?? :) air assam and sambal :P ~

talapia..huge right?? :)

air bandung...to die for :P

The price is also reasonable. Pari ikan bakar set with rice is normally RM7  and Talapia set is around RM13 (depends on the size of the fish). I assure you that you will leave the restaurant feeling happy (and with a rounder tummy too :P )

Simply Mel’s : Cosy Portugese Cuisine in heart of KL

November 7, 2011 at 2:32 pm (Food Love Affair) (, , , , )

If you’re looking for an authentic portugese cuisine in Kuala Lumpur, look no more. You can find it right here in The Sphere, Bangsar South Kuala Lumpur. Situated at first floor on the far right side (i think :P ), the restaurant ambiance is cozy and welcoming.

The Sphere, Bangsar South

Friendly and cheerful staff welcomed us and seated us at our reserved table (we booked online through Table4Us). After looking through the wide choices of menu and listening to recommendation from the staff, we ordered white rice with 3 dishes and 1 appertizer. cute reservation card on the table :)

cute reserved card on the table :)

While waiting for our food, in the menu there was a story on how Mel (the owner I think) came about to opening this cafe. There was even a baby picture of Mel and her mom. We looked around to see whether we can spot the owner and I think she is handling the food inside the kitchen. (totally assuming from the picture in the menu) So we kinda expected the food was gonna be good since the owner herself is making it.. and we are not dissapointed :)

The verdict(description of dishes was taken directly from the menu :) ) :

Mama’s Mercy Fish Croquette  RM 9.90
Fluffy fish roll, breaded and fried, served with Mel’s special chilli
Review : Taste like ‘begedil’ my mom makes. Taste great with the chili (7/10)

Mel’s Devil Curry Regular RM 12.90 Large RM17.90
Debal curry with chicken & fried potato wedges cooked in a fiery gravy of chilli, onions, galangal, lemongrass and mustard seeds
Review : Highly recommended. But personally for me i think it is a bit bland. But love that they are not stingy with the chicken meat chunks in the curry (6/10)

Terung Sambal Regular RM9.90 Large 13.90
Pan fried aubergines smothered in Mel’s sambal, sprinkled with dried prawns, sliced onions and chillies
Review : Love this dish sO much!! (9/10)

Pineaple Prawn Sambal RM17.90
Pineapple chunks and prawn sauteed with Mel’s sambal
Review : Tasty and delicious. my only comment was the prawn was too little for the price :( (7/10)

Overall, the food was great..staff was friendly and attentive. We left the place with great experience.  Would definitely come again to Simply Mel’s

Happy bDay mama!!

August 1, 2011 at 1:39 pm (Food Love Affair, hOt mama, life) (, , , , , , , )

happy belated bDay mama!!

yea yea i know i’m about 10 days late of wishing her in this blog..haha..but i didn’t forget to wish her on the day itself :)

we took mama out for dinner on her bday at tarbush, empire. simple but memorable dinner considering it was a week day.

yusno and i gave mama a spa treat at veqish the next day. well it was a surprise but i guess mama did suspect that her gift is related to spa-ish thingy.

originally i wanted to bring her to hammam but considering she is not comfortable of having other people bathing and scrubbing her..so i guess that crossed out hammam from my list.

so i book a session with veqish since she’d already been there once. treatment we bought for her was facial, relaxing massage, foot and ankle scrub & smoothing foot wrap. phew..so glad she liked it ;) horray!!

on saturday, we all planned a surprise bday party to mama hawaiian style. it was done at our kajang house. meme and bin was assigned to bring mama there. it was a pot luck style so all the guess gladly bring a dish :)

the look on mama’s face was priceless. i think she was honestly surprised!

thanks to my family who sportingly came dressed within the theme.

happy birthday mama!!

Nasi Buncit at Tanjung Village

May 13, 2011 at 12:55 pm (Food Love Affair, work) (, , , , , , , , , , )

Yesterday I went out for lunch with my friends at Tanjung Village, Kota Damansara.

When we arrived, the place wasn’t crowded yet. The place is basically a food court where you have all sorts of stall from traditional to western cuisine. I was told by my friends who’s been there be for the must try food when eating there is Nasi Buncit from Kodai Gomok (cuteness), Bawal Goreng with rice at the Bawal Power Store and ikan bakar with rice at the Ikan bakar Store.

When the Nasi Buncit arrived, i got the shock of my life Theportion was HUGE!! It was like 2.5 of a normal fried rice. The fried rice doesn’t look special or different from any normal fried rice but when you taste it, yum it has a unique taste where they use special seasoning… :P ~ the fried rice is served with keropok, egg and a chicken wing. This Nasi Buncit cost RM10 per plate.

I ordered ikan pari set. It came with rice, and ‘masak lemak’ gravy, sambal and air asam + kicap (i think). The fish was served with special sauce (sambal) on top. The sambal was hea..ven…ly…. This set also cost RM10.

My friend ordered the bawal set. Served with rice and with gravy and sambal. Best eaten when it is still hot. The fish was big and crunchy!! :P Macam makan kat kampung. This set will cost you RM8 if I remembered correctly

The food was great. The price was average. The ambience, well I was told that it is more happening during the night. When we came during lunch, it was like any other food court. only cleaner :P

If you’re around there, drop by at the  Tanjung village. You won’t regret it :)

Nasi Lemak CT Garden, Kampung Baru

May 1, 2011 at 3:42 am (Food Love Affair, life) (, , , , , )

Me and hubby went to Nasi Lemak CT Garden, Kampung Baru for dinner yesterday. It was my first time there. First I was quite skeptical about all of these nasi lemak place becase I don’t fancy the lauk2 and somehow the nasi lemak always taste the same to me. What’s important to me is the ikan bilis must be headless and must have peanut :P (yer saya tau saya byk songeh)

Th ambience, well, it was just like any other malay restaurant, but it has a nice view of KLCC.

The way it works is there is a nasi lemak station, the lauk pauk station and also the drinks station before you pay for the eats. The nasi lemak portion is really small if you’re a big eater, so you might want to take 2 or 3 per person. Each nasi lemak cost RM0.70. At the nasi lemak station there’s also otak otak which cost Ro.60 sen per err…otak? hahaha.

At the lauk(s) station, there is a lot of varieties (for those who likes to eat their nasi lemak with all of these extras). There were paru, rendang, telur burung puyuh, kari, hati, ayam goreng, ayam kampung, etc2… Don’t even bother trying to say to the makcik like my hubby “Makcik, I want only 2 or 3 of the telur burung puyuh (quail’s egg)”. The makcik will give you a scoop of whatever you’ve requested (which in my hubby’s case he got around 10 quail’s egg). Because they determine the price by the scoop (senduk). Average price per scoop is RM 3.50.

Then off to the drinks station. They got juice, the usual milo, neslo, nescafe, sirap bandung, etc… Average costing aroung RM1.30 oer drink and RM2.50 per juice.

All in all. it costs us around RM10.20 for 2 person’s dinner. Very cheap :)

2 Nasi lemak (RM0.70×2) + 2 Otak-otak (RM0.60×2) + Scoop of quail’s egg and paru-paru (RM 5.00) + Milo & Sirap Bandung (RM1.30×2)

Total = RM 10.20

Cappricciosa Pasta & Pizza @ Sunway Pyramid

March 6, 2011 at 5:32 am (Food Love Affair) (, , , )

Cappricciosa is  new restaurant that has just opened up it’s first franchise in Malaysia. Located opposite J & Co Donut at Ground Floor at new Pyramid wing.

The decoration was like a quaint italian restaurant, with the woods and italian scenery as decoration. I especially heart the menu which has the italian map at the front cover

The waiter politely introduced himself to us and recommend what is good on the menu. (I hope the service will continue like this, not just during the beginning)

I ordered Chocolate Shake and yusnO ordered a Pina Colada Soda. The shake was…just…heavenly….LOTS of ice cream are put in the shake.. (drool)

For food, i ordered the Margaritta Pizza (i think that’s the name) and yusnO ordered…spaghetti carbonara..the taste was delicious but the servings was huge. I think next time me and yusnO can just order a dish to be shared between us

Verdict :
Ambiance : 4/5
Food : 3.5/5
Service : 4.5/5

Will definitely come again to try other dishes. :)
