good bye world cup champions…

Crestfallen…that’s is the word escribe how I’m feeling right now.

Italy failed to qualify to second round after being defeated by slovakia 3-2. Apparently the azzurri only start to wake up the 80th minute. That’s where they start to pick it up and start attacking. Alas, it was too late.

Las Vacas – Place to go if you love meat!

June 14, 2010 at 2:42 am (Food Love Affair) (, , , , , )

If you love meat, this is a place to visit. Las Vacas is located at the corner of shophouses in front of Wisma FAM (Kelana Jaya). A friend recommended to me about this place. Originally a meat shop, they’ve allocated a section for people to dine in.

Arriving at Las Vacas, the first thought in my head was, “Meat Shop. Where the hell are we going to eat?” Entering the shop, there’s a small section of tables and chairs ( I estimated there’s only around 10 tables there).

We were directed to our table. The server was very attentive and friendly. Recommending and explaining the pricing differs from the category of the meat (some eat  grass, some eat grain, etc…). Steaks are priced per 100 grams. There’s also burgers and lambs if I’m not mistaken.

Me and Yusno decided to order Tenderloine steak (since we do not fancy the fat part) which priced RM19.90 per 100 grams (their average steak size is around 200 – 300 grams).

While waiting for the main course, customer can also choose to snack on their cute meat pie (RM2 per pie) and it is also available frozen for take away. We decided to try only one cute meat pie because we’re afraid it might spoil out appetite. The pie was delicious, especially for me who don’t eat vege. It is all meat inside the pie.. (drool).

When our main course arrived, the presentation of the food was nothing fancy, salad with dressing, garlic bread and the MEAT..err steak . hehe. First bite, was heavenly, followed by second third fourth…etc.. You get what i mean 🙂 The steak was so juicy and tender. You can just eat it by itself without any sauce.

For dessert we opted for applie pie ala mode. The pie crust was the same as the meat pie, generously accompanied by 3-4 scoops of ice cream, served with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. absolutely delicious.

The verdict :

  • Simple and cozy shop. There’s actually drawings of kids (customers) pasted on the wall of the shop
  • The steak portion was quite huge for me and my hubby (habis jugak in the end)
  • Friendly and attentive customer service (which you don’t get often in Malaysia)
  • Great place but you have to bear with the “meat shop” smell
